I was the Trial Counsel in early 1968 for E-4G. Pawlaczyk for cutting the ears off a dead VC; a violation of the ,Laws of War. He was convicted along with a couple of others. I believe that a CBS newsman, Don Smith, set the whole thing up for publicity. The 1st Division sent charges on Smith to Saigon BUT the newspeople got him out of country, not to return. I was the Division Trial Counsel from 7/67 til 4/68.

Didn't notice the credit line- (you know getting old ain't for sissy's ) I have been trying to find George for years and obviously didn't have a clue on the spelling of his name. You have now corrected that. Muchg appreciated. this stil boggles my mind that out of all of the info on the internet I just happened across this. Thanks for putting all of this together.

According to a credit line, the photos were taken by SP4 George Pawlaczyk. You came pretty close on the spelling.

Where did you get this picture? Just found the site and was browsing when I came upon this by chance. I am the soldier in the foreground. I believe this image was taken by Sp4 George Pavlocich(sp?). He and I were photographers assigned to cover the actions in Loc Nihn. I have many other images of this action. I will see about getting them posted.
