The top of the winch post. The red line runs from a hand winch on the lower right side, up through the pad eyes at the post head, and back down the post to tie off at the forebeam right at the inboard edge of the hull. A couple of turns around the beam and knotting off at the dolphin striker strap was a very secure way to attach. The pic also shows the wooden chock on the opposite side of the head plate. This has a ~45 degree shaped edge on the opposite side and this is the face that contacts the beam's top surface when it reaches full tilt position. The line shown here is not the final choice...we went with 5/8" nylon braid dock line since having some stretch in it helps things snug up better and the ~5000 lbs strength is way over the loading requirements.
