Not to argue with the evil Dr Drutu, but I think the ole rule of the shutter speed not being less than the focal length to ovoid camera shake would have been prudent Rich.. So we can't rule out camera shake on this shot. An extra sharpen just on the Mum & Dad Geese would do the trick.

Good picture, I like the diagonal line separating the grass from the water. As for the softness, it looks like morning haze to me - the shutter speed is fast enough to compensate for hand shake, but you're shoting at telephoto, so I asume there was quite a bit of distance between you and these guys, so the haze would add up.

Thanks Pops, I didn't know that but it makes sense.
Rod, I'm happy with the 55-200 also.
Thanks Pfehlauer, do you think the softness could be result of camera shake at 1/160s or the fact that it was at noon and hazy? Rich

Excellent compo, kind of soft, though.

Nice to know you have a friend Pops, even if it is a Canadian:-)
Nice shot with the 200 Rich. It's a good lens. IMHO.

Ummmm, Rich, they don't have citizenship. They're actually Canada Geese. That's a common mistake and one I used to make until I was correct by a Canadian friend.
