Don Ellis

#1
East meets West*

This image was captured in Hong Kong in front of Sogo, one of our larger Japanese Department Stores.
He was selling ginger plants to passersby and I noticed the contrast between him
and the poster on the wall. I took twelve shots and this one caught the moment.
Luck was with me -- I couldn't have come closer if I'd staged it.

This is the kind of picture you see once and remember forever. I am glad you posted it again.
Who said that you need to be young and beautiful to be a cover girl;-)

Mary Anne, Rod, alexig, PhotoNUT... thanks very much. I think the comments are more gratifying than the winning. I'm pleased to see that everyone is commenting so much more than we did in the early days of these challenges. Cheers...

Your patience was rewarded. More than two opposites here

This is a great image, Don. You may have been lucky, but only because you first notice the potential for this shot and had your camera with you. Good work!

Dorys (you of the discerning eye for complex toilets), thank you. It is nice accident that there are a number of opposites at work here -- Man/Woman. Real/Illusion. Three-dimensional/Two-dimensional. I've added a few comments about the capture above.

Techno... thanks... nice to hear that they're on topic. I have a feeling we'll see a lot of creativity in this challenge. Good topic.

Melissa... kind words, thank you. Although I spotted the potential and waited for the right moment, there is obviously a tremendous amount of luck in getting this kind of lip registration. :-)
