Under the Oaks(*)

Mountain View Cemetery, Oakland, California

Yet another cemetery shot. (Well--at least it's not another photo of my kids!) I used multiple layers in PSE to lighten the trees while retaining the original exposure for the tombstones. Desaturated in PSE, too.

More photos of your kids would be welcome, but this is great too. Your photoshop work has been effective - I expect the trees would have been very dark.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try both, though maybe not in time to resubmit for the challenge. Part of the problem, too, was camera shake. Shot at 1/25 without a tripod, because I was late for work and didn't want to go back to the car to get it. Went back for another try the next day, but the fog wasn't cooperating...

Oh, I don't know if you can do it in PSE, but try unsharp mask with (50, 50, 0) and see if you like it.

I would prefer more contrast in the foreground, but the trees look awesome.
