I love the light, why must I be hated?

I found this moth in our shower on a reflective surface. I normally hate moths and getting this close was certainly not something I love. For some reason I was surprised by his eyes. I'm assuming he's male - surely a female couldn't be so ugly, and my macro lenses won't go close enough to check ;-) I was pleased with the fact that he was reflected, and thought about cropping it to be square but it didn't look so good without that spare space on the left for some reason!

The mirror is an interesting choice for background, but it's hard to keep it from getting overexposed/washed out. Assuming you could move this critter, it might have been nice to see it on a darker background.

Gayle,

Many thanks. This is my second ever challenge entry, and my first bit of feedback so you don't know how much it means to me to get some positive feedback! I love macro, i'm very new to it, and I don't have the best gear for it - but this guy seemed fairly timid and i'm fairly pleased with the result. Thanks again, Paul

Paul, this is a great macro! I am in envy of people who can take these photos, cos I can never get the little critters to sit still for me. Love the reflection, it just increases it's ugliness! Good composition too.
