Feel The Burn

My $6 Studio

I hate pushing myself to get in the gym and work out hard, but after each session the feeling of
accomplishment far outweighs the physical pain and makes it all worthwhile

Very interesting shot. Love the movement and the lighting contrasts.

Iso, I was actually contemplating sending you an e-mail before I took this shot. I love the dark, clean, non-reflective background you have in several of your images, and I wanted your advice. The $6 was spent on the background, some duct tape, and several sheets of paper used as reflectors with a couple desk lights. My actual idea was to have three shots depicting different workouts, and lay them out side by side, but I could not achieve continuity in the tone and the background. This was chosen out of about 30 shots.

Good contrast range in this picture. I guess it's $6 worth of black material? Well spent. Similar in style to the one you entered in the nightmares challenge. IMHO the exposure is possibly just a bit too long - there's a slight blurring on your whole body instead of just the arm. Very difficult to achieve though and this is an admirable effort. I best not show this one to my wife or she'll want me to get a body like yours! The workout's obviously paying off. How many takes was this?

I like this picture because (in the story at least, and with a bit of imagination the picture) combines both love and hate..I think lots of people who have exerted themselves to improve something can associate with the feelings of love and hate surrounding this. I also like the black and white, and the blur on the moving weight - nice touches. Looks professional.
