Thanks Cat, it's nice to have a fresh pair of eyes looking at these things. The thing with this image is the transformation that has occurred regarding the scene the girl is walking into. In the original, this scene is almost invisible. But when I applied the partial chrome effect, which was an experiment intended to smooth the edges as happens with oof images, the backdrop scene just burst into life. The shutters and windows, the gutters and drainpipes, the foliage and window baskets and the child in the red tunic , all give purpose to the girl walking into the scene. So much so I completely missed the problems with the tunnel you noticed. Now if I can work out how to select just the tunnel in PS I may be able to fix it, until then this goes into the 'nice, but needs some attention' category.
I like what you have done here, the effect adds abstract charm to the photo. If you don't mind, I have a suggestion: You see that the floor looses brightness as you come away from the entrance of the tunnel. I think similar thing should happen with the ceiling too. I think a gradient from transparant to dark gray for the ceiling will help a lot.
