This is really beautiful, and I'm not sure whether you intended it or not, but it's quite the statement on globalization and integration/appropriation of cultures in the ever-shrinking world. Very nice work.

Love it. So glad to see this chair did not fall into the lake as one of our other entrants have shared with us :-). I really love the colors and the patterns and the serious expression on the young lady's face makes the portrait / image striking to me.
Creative thinking. Markjay

As I scanned the thumbnails this evening, I immediately saw the "WOW factor" in this image. I particularly like the curtain behind your daughter and the unusual lighting adds an element not often seen in a portrait. You certainly have brought a bit of excitement to the challenges, Elena. shu

Superb. So many things right here, but the directional light and the even facial expression knock ball from park. Awesome. --Joe Reilly

The image could not be more perfect. I'll tell you my real bitch, Elena, I have a general rule that I will only vote for one image by an entrant...no matter how good the other two are. Rules are made to be broken of course, and I've broken this one a couple of times...but now I have to choose between Waiting and Chinese Family.

For your two splendid images, I may break this rule, I may, but no promises. I suspose if put to the wall with only one vote...it will be for Chinese Family...but it is tough to pick.

Best Wishes, Traveller

Looks like a real "pro" piece of portraiture work, Elena. Well done! Great lighting and stunning props. Compliments and regards jnconradie

Thank you!!!!
To Melbob:
I wanted to make a traditional, formal chinese "family" portrait (blank expression and "poker" face).
With the child features it is look so interesting (...hopefully) _Elena

Lovely portrait Elena, your daughter is a very pretty young lady and you have captured her beautifully. I love the natural light and use of a reflector producing really nice tones.

This is a very formal/traditional type portrait, Elena, I would like to see her captured in a more 'natural' pose, perhaps a little more relaxed in the style of some of your previous compositions which I think are sensational.

Excellent work, ~ Regards Melbob

Nice. It does look like one of those custom look-alike dolls. I do love that she's and the doll are wearing Chinese materials, but are not Chinese themselves. It adds a wonderful strength and interest to the image. ~ Lonnit

Lovely portrait of a beautiful little girl! The doll looks a lot like her with that long blond hair! CJ

The girl looks like a doll herself! Cindy

Wonderful use of light....and the strong colors just vibrate! Kind of a gutsy call too, side and hard window light against a dark background often doesn't work....but in this instance, it is just wonderful. Best Wishes, Traveller
