Chicano Park*

san diego

I felt this was a better representation of how the leading lines correspond with the writing on the column. Literal translation is "Neighborhood yes, Yankess NO!" This basically says white americans stay out. The column is too a bridge that goes to Coronado Island in San Diego, which is a pretty affluent neighborhood and the home of one of our Navy Bases. Ironic.

This is an intriguing image, I was looking at it, thinking about it, and suddenly, the thought popped into my head, "What if the Sentiments were reversed?" and the message was, Neighborhoods, yes, Mexicans, No....How long do you think the sign and painting would stay up? Hummmmmmm?

Still, a moment caught, and I like the way you worked the colors. Best Wishes, Traveller

Oh yeah, I really like the extra saturation and punch of the colors. Glad you liked the idea. -Michael

This is what I love about these challenges. I never knew about this technique. Thanks so much Michael. How's this version? I duplicated the background and used soft overlay and brought the opacity down to about 62%.

Yes, ironic indeed. This is a case where I think the color could be pushed a good deal. I tried duplicating the background layer and changing the blending mode of the new layer to "soft light". I'd be curious what you think if you are of a mind to try it. -Michael
