I have a bunch of pictures like this from Grouse Mountain. I've never considered making them black and white for some reason. Think I'll give it a whirl. Very nice, by the way. -- Victor

hey Cindy, yes I hadn't thought of making a large print of the original shot until I played around with greyscale versions of it for this challenge. but I think you're right - I'll have to give it a try. thanks again! - b.c.

Hey b.c. that is very cool. It would be nice to have a longer lens as a variation - but this one would be wonderful in a very large print - where the city is an island in all that cloud. I took a similar image for the weather challenge - but not nearly as nice as yours I think.

hi Cindy. this is shot from a nearby mountain overlooking downtown Vancouver, about 1100m elevation. the downtown area is on a small peninsula so it easily appears like an island in the fog here.
yes, it is a "natural" shot, not composite! only cropped, some levels and contrast adjust, convert to B/W and USM. (fyi over in the ctf forum I posted a similar shot in colour in the current mini-challenge)
the fog was very dense but rolling out in late afternoon, therefore the dramatic shadows in the clouds. I would have liked to have a longer lens with me at the time...
thanks for your comment! - b.c.

This is just amazing - where were you when you shot it? Is it all 'natural' or a composite (if you don't mind the question?). Cindy
