Taken on a trip through the Flint Hills of Kansas last summer. This was taken at dawn. The rock was set on the hill about a century ago as a landmark to other travellers.

Sharon - You're right that an off center composition would pack more wallop. My aim was to get the shadow leading into the picture from the bottom right corner. In hindsight, I should have taken several photos from different angles emphasizing different aspects of the landscape, and at least one with a person in the shot showing the size of the stones. (I would be a somewhat taller than the shortest stone.) A wider angle lens and a lens hood would also have been helpful, if I'd thought about it at the time. (Sigh.) It's a learning process.

I felt sure this was taken in England, what a surprise to see it is in Kansas! It looks really ancient in your image. The shot might have been a little more dramatic if the stones were a bit more off center. Nice work! ~Sharon
