Something Yummy From The Sea * Traveller

Actually, I photograph a lot of what I eat so this challenge may not be fair as to me. I think that eventually, I'll make this into a triptych...always a step behind...lol (Resturaunte Alantico, right on the Carribean Coast of Colombia in Santa Marta. This was a wonderful dinner but because I speak very little Spanish, and no one in NorthernEastern Colombia speaks any English, half the fun is ordering from a menu where I don't know what what is. Often it is a miracle that I can feed myself at all in that I can only point at this or that.)

Yes, we all take pictures for a lot of different reasons. What would make a nice composition doesn't always tell the story you want to tell or preserve the memories of a special time. Some of my favorite images would never be called great or even good photography but they mean a lot to me and the people I took them for. On the other hand, it never hurts to apply good photographic practice to even the most casual pictures. Anyway, was the fish good?! ~Sharon

Dear Elips, I know what you mean, and yet the detritus of the image to me adds to the effect...and there are tells....note no beer or wine, and because it is so windy on the beach, napkins have to be presented in the small wooded box to the right. Of course these are things that only I know, but they do call up the memories. Best Wishes, Traveller

Traveller, that looks like a great meal! I know you can't go back and reshoot but I wonder how this would have looked had you shot straight down on the plates thus eliminating a lot of the background clutter and emphasizing the colors of the plates and meal. ~Sharon
