wonderful balance and contrast - the colour is terrific.

Folks, thanks for the compliments and comments. Ed, one of the few reasons I posted the shot was that I thought the same thing about how the clouds' density changed inversely as the leaves do...

Armin, thanks for the comment, but I personally don't think this will win. The image appealed to me, but I've never thought that it was my best shot...right place at the right time...and I still feel I coulda done better! I'd be happy with top 10 with this shot...winning though would mean this lesser image would have to trump several superior images in this gallery...

Cheers,
:-D

Guess, who's winning :-)

I like the contrasting pattern - the leaves get denser on the left side, and the clouds denser on the right. -Ed Hahn

Really captivating colors, shapes, and textures. A treat for the eye. -Michael

Wow! Thanks again for the comments all...Alexeig...I pplayed and quandried so many different times on the rotation...and finally settled on this. This was taken looking directly upwards from the sidewalk (I was doing that limbo dance or whatever)...trying to get the shot off! Cindy, I wish trees were a little better at posing...sometimes they just don't do what you want (they blow in th wind, they stand next to their brothers and sister's poking them with their branches :-) etc.). I am relatively happy that this tree cooperated with me. Certainly didn't hurt.
Cheers,
:-D

Great reds and nice sky. * why dont rotate it back?

Wow! How nice of the tree and the sky to pose for you. Good for you to see it! Cindy

I'm glad you didn't have a different lens. This is perfect just as it is! I love the way the clouds fade from right to left so that behind the red leaves you have more blue sky showing.

RK. It was the 24mm f2.8 prime. I like the lens for some stuff...the quality of the result really depends on light etc. Maybe my copy isn't the greatest...If I had a 10-22mm I could have done a better job of the sky and leaf capture....oh well....thanks tho' for the comment!

Thanks all....I didn't expect this to be too popular a photo..We had great skies Friday and I hd a few minues before catching the train to work....Out where we live the predominant color is yelow this year....but interspearsed are some reds and oranges...I wish I had an even wider lens and could have gotten more sky...since the sky really interplayed well with the elaves...

If we get a few more nice days I'll try to post some of our fall colors as the season comes to an end! As much as I hte the winter, we certainly are lucky to have fall colors...

nice.

This is terrific! How did you get reds? Our maples here in eastern NY only turned yellow this year, I am jealous! ~Sharon

Wow! What a color contrast! And a great sky to boot. Nicely observed and captured. -- Bruce
