Before I posted my comments I decided to glance thru and the first I caught was Iso's, which said exactly what I was going to say. :) ~ Lonnit

Michael, you can always be counted on to provide some very good images. This one is very well done.

Superb. My favorite in the gallery.

An object lesson in how less is more - well worth contemplation. Also thanks for the opportunity to compare the before and after of the tweaks - useful to see how subtle changes can improve the whole.

Well, I'll be damned! I didn't think that it would be the case, but the extra work you put into the image really paid off. There is a lesson in this for me. Thanks a lot, I found this very helpful. Sincerely, Traveller

Michael, could you also post the before in this comment thread. I think I see what you did...but I'd like to compare and contrast if possible. thanks, Traveller

Thanks all for the comments. I've uploaded a re-worked version of the image. The warm white balance was cooled off a bit, a slight curves adjustment on the wall/painting for pop, a separate curves adjustment on the floor to add contrast to the floor boards, and lastly some "painting with light" on the figure to accentuate her hair highlights, jacket, and hands (ergo making her a stronger visual partner to the painting).

iso - I also was of two minds on the warm white balance...see above.

Kelly, no work on the wall. The gallery is lit by both spotlights and natural light. Since it was foggy on Saturday, the natural light was subdued and the lighting on the wall is pretty much so what the camera captured.

Thanks also to Grant who sent me "visual" suggestions. While I did not follow all the suggestions they were very helpful in establishing re-work goals. I do appreciate that he took the time to do so and hope I acheived some of the goal he was suggesting.

Michael

I like it. Not over reliant on the painting for its strength. Good work.

Ah the genius that is Puff. I adore the frame within a frame effect.

Excellent work Michael! Very nice. Did you do any work on the wall or did the gallery lighting fall off that way - in either event, well done. - Kelly

A minimal shot of a minimal artwork in a minimal place. Throw in the human interest, bang on topic, and you have a great image. I was in two minds about the warm white balance at first, but I guess it kind of goes with the artwork on the wall.

Wow, Michael, no BS, this is a Dynamite composition....wonderfully muted colors as required for this image...just strong everything! Seriously though, how can I not vote for this? Or For RK's recent entry or Tim's or Jeannie's...this is just impossible!

And I've only mentioned tonight's postings. I suppose I shouldn't be doing this soul baring as a comment to your image....But listen, this is how I see it.

Your picture is so good that I know that everyone will see this comment here even more so that if I post it in a thread. But seriously, as a friend, how do you resolve these kinds of conflicts? This really is a great picture...but then so are a lot of others. Sigh...Real Best Wishes to You and Yours, Traveller
