I'm sure you should really title this "Lance Armstrong Takes A Break".

Thanks for the encouraging comments eveyone. This was from our vacation at St. Augustine Beach. I also live close to the beach a little further north, in Fernandina Beach. Can't have too much beach, I guess. Our mountains aren't much to photograph.

Bruce, I'm really enjoying your beach work. While the image is visually fairly bold on its initial viewing, there are many fine datails to be enjoyed on subsequent viewings. Nicely done. -Michael

Just joined you guys. And this is the first photo that caught my eyes.

I think there are two photos there. The person at the sea, and the bicycle and its shadow. Both are captivating.

Yes, Love the "mood" in the picture. You have really lucky to have such great beach access from where you live. -Cat

Very Nice... I see a distinct signature appearing in your work....which I do like a lot!!! I was a little surprised about the lense length for the photo as I'd expected wider tan 40mm. I think you were lucky to have such a great moringin with the mist/light, but you should take great credit in a great execution for this phot. I like it A LOT!!! Very Nice!!!

Cheers,
:-D

Damon, you're right about the brake on this bike. Looking closer at the lower arms of the rear "fork", extending from the rear hub, you can see the "arm" of the foot brake.

Regarding the image, I have to agree with everyone else.

Yes. This one does tell a nice story. I'm betting on what we used to call "coaster brakes" where you do the backwards pedal thing. They're actually quite good in some ways because they're somewhat sealed and work even when things get wet. Perahps that's the ideal brake style for beach riding :) I really like the way the upper part of the person's reflection is nice and clear on that smooth, wet part of the beach while the lower part is not so visible due to the turbulent, non-flat surface of the wave as it runs upward onto the sand. I also like the wide-to narrow form of the main, shadow subjects forming sort of an angled pyramid from the bottom of the photo and upward to the upper right corner.

Love the story in this one. Does it have a 'back pedal' hub brake? Looks like a great beach cruiser....
