Gosh, I'd thought I had already commented on this. Cindy, this shot is sooo well done. I love the clarity, the concentric ring patterns, and the textures. The water drop brings it all home. For what it's worth, I liked your "worm." ;-) --Nancy/odigi

I would like to say the orange fir thing to be a good part of the image but after staring at it for a while, everyone else is right. it is quite distracting from the main subject. Wonderful capture. It's beautiful! - Michael Soo

Another beauty Cindy. I don't mind the out of focus ice but do find the "worm" distracting also. Love the color of the lake bottom and the suspended drop and the pattern is wonderful. Ann C.

A wonderfully constructed shot. It has lost some quality in compression unfortunately. I wont hold that aginast you. The orange worm is slightly distracting. Andy

Thanks guys - My problem Kelly was trying to freeze action on the droplet in mid air and get nice sharp rings. I have shots at narrower apertures and slower shutter speeds but things weren't as frozen as I wanted - there was blur from subject motion - plus, even stopped down to f11 or f13, with that lens my DOF was almost non-existent at that subject distance (about 5 feet) - so I still wasn't getting the snow in good sharp focus. I had to up my ISO and open up my aperture to get that shutter speed really fast. Since the idea was to show the pattern anyway, not the snow, I gave up on getting everything in the DOF - Probably could have shot this better with a fixed lens cam. - Or maybe I should have tried a wide angle and bent down closer to the water surface.
