I'll venture a guess. I think it's probably that the boundaries of the vent are well defined, whereas the edges of the ribs (or whatever you want to call them) change gradually. Put another way, well-defined edges of the vent vs. rounded edges of the contour of the green wall. -- Victor

It bothers me that the vent is razor sharp, but the siding appears to be soft. What's going on here? - bee1000

Iso, I love this shot! Despite the hard lines and sharp detail, there's something very soft about this one. Perhaps it's that beautiful soft green that I'm so attracted to. Whatever it is, I really like it.
