Tilt Along the Pier
AJ
4th Place

Took this one last night. I drove all over the place
looking for somewhere that would make a dynamic tilted
composition for a night shot. I don't think I quite
acheived what I set out for, but it's a start.

f8, 30 seconds, 28mm, ISO 100
(tungsten WB)

other sizes: small medium original auto

Intense, and an excellent use of tilt. I've got to try one of these "tungsten night shots".

LOL iso, yea, I think I even shocked myself with the color ;)

Funny. I knew it wasn't mine as soon as I saw it :-p Actually, from the thumbnail I didn't think it would be AJ's either. It's, gasp, in colour! Very crisp, clean well exposed and composed. It's a great time of night to shoot. Tungsten works so well against this sky colour.

WOW! Stunning colors, and of course I too thought it an Iso at first. One just cannot deny that the colors and composition command attention! Super capture. ~ Lonnit

...I keep finding myself echoing other people's comments. Like Olaf, I immediately thought of Iso's "On Reflection" shot (which is one of my all time favourites of any shot in these challenges). You have certainly captured the colour and sharpness here Angela. It's a very beautiful shot. If only you had sat on the pier...! Phil

Thanks Vikas and Olaf!! I must admit, Olaf, iso's reflection shot is what kind of inspired me for this one. I loved his photo, and when I went out looking last night for a spot, I kept thinking of how beautiful and serene his was and how I wished I could find a place like that. And then I found this!!! :)

Wow Angela! Like this a lot! I had gotten so used to seeing grainy and toned black and whites from you (nothing wrong with that!) that when I saw this thumbnail my immediate thought was: "Looks like an iso-shot". I guess because this reminds me of these two of his (not that it looks exactly like any of them): [http://www.pbase.com/image/27540227 ] and [http://www.pbase.com/image/28234168 ]. Love the complementary colors, the simplicity, the lines and that smooth water reflection! I do believe this will place high come voting day... --OIaf
