No problem Joe, usually I find your PS work seemless and nigh-on perfect, but this one just didn't seem to sit right for me (in fact, I was quite surprised to see your name attached to it!)
It may be because I'm viewing the images on a different screen to normal that I'm picking up a different feel to some of the images... Phil
Phil: A mild diffuse glow effect applied to the entire image, but no artificial reduction in DOF. "Overdoing it" is a subjective thing and, after working an image, I lose all perspective. But after leaving this sit for a week, I don't see anything I'd change. Reduction in any of the three principal edits (heavy contrast, diffuse glow, off-blue tint) would have this wander from my intent. Like "A Rock and a Hard Place", I don't think the PS work makes/breaks the image. In both cases, the final suite of edits was not lengthy, I just struggled to find (what I considered) the optimal balance. I work almost entirely with PS layers, so reference to long editing sessions is the mark of trial and error, not repeated blunt-force trauma.
I hope this does not read as defensive. Not the intent. Just outlining my thoughts in response to what I perceive to be an honest question.
Thanks,
Joe

I agree with Karthik that the tone makes this shot, but I'm a little concerned about the excess blur on the hand. Have you been overdoing the PS work again Joe? Phil
