Oh - I mistook the stacking process for stitching images together (as in a pano). The software looks interesting, but obviously works best with static scenes such as this.

No, I stacked to minimise the noise in the final image. The dynamic range of the scene was pretty huge, owing to some extremely bright flood lights. I wanted to minimise the noise (I even shot at ISO 100) so that I could bring up some of the shadow details without them becoming too noisy.

I shot raw, converted to TIFFs using C1 and then stacked the images using Image Stacker with the "Average all images" setting.

I like this very much, and think the B&W gives a much stronger sense of drama than the color version. Am curious why you "stacked" images - distance from the plant?

No, no, Phil. He copied my idea by reading my mind ;-)
It does look like a Borg cube, doesn't it! Actually I would have been less worried about photographing a Borg cube. I was worried that at any moment I'd be pounced upon as a suspected terrorist.

There's something abot this image... all those lights kind of remind me of an ocean liner or something... great shot, and no shame in borrowing another idea. Phil

I know someone submitted a power station photo for the last challenge, but I'd wanted to take a photo of this one for some months and was annoyed that he beat me to it! Oh, well. As Salvador Dali said, "Those who do not want to imitate anything, produce nothing." - Jon Stern
