OH, I totally agree with you about all the great things this shot is. I just thought there was probably a beautiful image of her just gazing. As a parent, it's the beautiful gazing one I'd want to hang on my wall. As awesome as this picture is, it's not the look of my child I'd want hanging on the wall - although it's a great public gallery shot well worth showing off. The intensity of her look is awesome! :) ~ Lonnit

Counterpoint: Granted, I am just one dumb opinion, but I found the shot *more* engaging by virtue of the eyes and house clothing. Given comments below, I doubt this was the photographic intent (or the practical reality), but the composition/gaze suggest a bit of mistrust, fear, loneliness, and sense of isolation. Beyond its clear technical merits, the image had great emotional impact on me. Something a little different, something extremely well done. --Joe

It's a nice shot, but I think the one before she looked at you, where she was daydreaming would have been the outstanding one. :) ~ Lonnit

Jacques, Wow... the tones on this are splendid. I'm torn about the eyes... as you mentioned, she looks like she was interrupted and was giving you "the look". That in itself is a photo, but maybe not as powerful as the dreamy alternative. Regardless... ahhh, youth.

Great tonality stemming from great exposure. The eyes and clothing bugged me a little, but you photograph 'em as you find em :)
Nice job.

Holy smokes, outstanding image. Great composition, depth, character, and use of B&W. Just outstanding. --Joe

thanks guys ! I know the eyes ... but I kind of like it this way because Jeanne was lost in her dreams and finally heard me and just turned the eyes ... so I kept this one, it's a choice ;-) JLN

Agree - excellent shot. One (*) suggestion - is there a version where her eyes aren't so noticeably skewed toward the camera? -Ed Hahn
