Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments and appreciate the same. There actually wasn't that much of post processing work involved in this shot, I usually underexpose any B&W shots that I have to do by about a stop or two, find it gives a better look to the whole shot, particularly to the skin tones, then it was just a matter of adjusting curves, levels, selective sharpening and that is pretty much it. The 10D gives pretty smooth pics out of the camera so don't do any smoothening action really. ..... Vikas.

Wow, beautifull picture. Black and White gives a sensual tone to it. I am sure the color version would not had the same mood. Great work Vikas!

Stunning. I can only hope to get B&W as good as this, if you do have some post rendering magic I would love to know too.

I can see I'm gonna have to work much harder to get anywhere in this challenge
Cheers

Geez Vikas, that's a fine shot. There's just getting to be too much talent around here! I would like to say though that I do find the kighlight on the hand a bit distracting. my eyes keep wandering over there and it makes me think, "What's wrong with the hand? Why do I keep staring at it? Is it too big?". But I think the strong highlight is just making it seem bigger and closer than it really is. If you could tone that down a bit I think it would balance this stunning picture even more. Wonderful work! I'm very quickly becoming a Vikas fan!!! Hmmmm... wrong! Correction: I already am!! ~ Lonnit

Wow, very nice! I agree with everything that has been said so far and want to add: I am impressed by the sharpness and smoothness of your photos! Do you have some good post-processing techniques we could convince you to share - or are they trade secrets? --Olaf.dk

I agree with ISO and, I think the composition is excellent. I myself, still have a long way to go in learning B & W tone / contrasts, sigh. Mark J

Whoa! This is an absolutely gorgeous portrait. Enough seperation between her hair and background, and nice to see a portrait without direct eye contact that works well. Might not be as *shadowy* as the challenge dictates, but that's up to the voters. Personally I wouldn't change a thing.
