Interesting image! To me it signals something in the lines of "HELP, I'm loosing my mind", "HELP, my mind is going fuzzy" or "HELP, I'm loosing touch with the world". Anyway, a very powerful statement and in my view, the title kind of detracts from that, by bringing it totally down to earth. Unlike Joe, I think the central composition works well in this image! I don't know why, maybe because of the symmetri of your face and hands? On the technical side, I'd have to disagree with iso3200: I think it is obvious that the glass effect has been added in postprocessing. The glass ripples are present more selectively than if it had been shot though real rippled glass. I don't think this detracts notably from the very strong statement of the image, though. Only thing I would want to change, is the title.

The look on your face and the shadowing of your hands is just perfect.
Now I know what a best buy employee must feel like. -johnebones

David: Very well conceived, highly creative. Your expression is perfect. Only constructive comment (*): To my eye, an off-center composition would have enhanced its character. Very nicely done! --Joe

Whatever the reasons, and however you got there, it's a good creative piece. I actually quite like the muted tones, and were it not for the title, it wouldn't warrant the busy background you suggest.

The glass effect is excellent. In fact I'd hadn't even questioned that it wasn't real!

And not one person has yet said that your 300D doesn't focus very well, you know, it seems a bit fuzzy around the edges LOL

This self portrait was a follow up on technique I played with a while back for a web site where I was trying to make it look like I was standing behind glass (in this case the computer monitor), with a very quick DOF falloff.

As my first one was very abstract in detail, I figure a close-up of face would fun to try. The title came after the fact, as I looked like I was in agony waiting for something in this shot. In reality I did not get to Best Buy till early afternoon on the Saturday that they showed up.

Having now come up with the Best Buy title, I probably should have gone back and re-created the post processing with some background other than white that would have added some atmosphere outside.

I don't know, David... sure you're not peeping through a shower door? LOL I agree with the others, nice job on this one. Mark J

This picture would have been almost disturbing looking, if it weren't for the very funny title lightening it up! Great job. :) ~Lonnit
