a very grumpy bush Katydid -- Scudderia sp., probably S. furcata. -- female - 1

K&P Trail near Snow Road Station

This Katydid was sitting on a bush growing alongside the
K&P Trail near Snow Road Station. While photographing it,
I noticed that it seemed to become aggressive whenever I put
the camera or my hand anywhere nearby. In fact, it walked
down a branch of the bush and started bunting at my finger
with its head and then started pummeling my finger much like
those boxing kangaroos. Finally, it grabbed onto my finger
(as in one of the photos) and wouldn't let go until I gently
pushed it loose. Even then, it wanted to continue the fight.
Quite interesting.
