I first went to the West Midlands to work for the architect Freddie Charles who was pioneering the salvage of historic timber framed buildings under threat following the havoc wrought on the urban fabric by ill informed 'clean sweep' planning of the 1960s. Many of the framed buildings of Coventry were found a new site here.
Unfortunately they have suffered by a more superficial but no less relentless form of vandalism . No good trying to stamp out eyesores, there would be little left
