At that rate the whole Cathedral would be around £2 billion now, but imagine doing all that work when every stone and timber had to be cut by hand after transporting by horse and waggon over undrained fenland.
Then finally, contemplating the scale of this subsidiary tower, what was the main central one like? (before it decayed and was replaced by the octagon)
