Tame Elk in Boxley Valley
On a state highway, a tame elk is a dead elk walking. This little guy allows people to pet him. If you plan a visit to see our elk, DO NOT feed him or pet him. He just walked up to this photographer, then a few others. I like the photo, but hate the situation. I alerted authorities to tray to get him relocated.
Bull Fight in Boxley Valley, Near Ponca AR
This is a scene from the 2011 rut in Boxley Valley, near Ponca, AR taken on September 28th.
Boxley Valley is arguably one of the best places to take elk pictures in the US. The unique geology of the valley traps elk close to the road for great viewing and picture taking opportunities. We are now in the elk rut, and it will continue for at least another month.
Prince with Spike, Cow and Calf
Prince, an 8x8 Royal Bull
This bull has to be one of the great trophy bull elk in the US. He is an 8x8 with great symmetry, and two drop tines each with two points. So very rare he should be cast in bronze. Outstanding.
