Here you can see the aborted and the unaborted form of the mushroom known as Entoloma abortivum. It is the mycelium of the Honey Mushroom (Armillaria mellea) which causes this deforming reaction in this particular species of Entoloma. If you see an Entoloma that looks like this one, but has no unaborted forms next to it, don't eat it or you will likey be poisoned by a 'look-a-like.'
