Notice the red projections on the cherry leaf in Eli's collecting basket. These are 'galls' produced by an insect that laid her eggs on this leaf. Each projection houses an egg and provides food for the insect until it grows out of its personal space. Other cool things in the basket include ramps, foliose Lichen on baark and a Deer Mushroom, Pluteus cervinus.
