Ho Chi Minh (1890 ¡V 1969) was a Vietnamese revolutionary and statesman, who later became Prime Minister (1946¡V1955) and President (1955¡V1969) of North Vietnam.

He is most famous for being the founder of the Viet Minh independence movement in 1941 and establishing Communist control in part of Vietnam in the 1950s.

Ho was fluent in English, several dialects of Chinese, French, German and Russian besides his native Vietnamese.
