Chinese Arts

Tai O, Hong Kong view map

“Ink and Wash Painting” and “Chinese Calligraphy”
are considered the most important arts in China
and the most refined form of East Asian painting.
They were developed in China during AD 618 -907,
introduced to Korea and Japan in the mid-14th century.

The brushes for both wash painting and calligraphy are similar.
They are traditionally made from bamboo with goat,
ox, horse, sheep, rabbit, deer or wolf hair.

The paintings and calligraphy were drawn by the 80-year-old shop owner.

Hung Hao... I could spend a lot of time in that shop, admiring the beautiful arts.
Years ago, I recall watching an old man writing Chinese calligraphy, with a long brush, on the sidewalk ! He was writing with water, on the sidewalk's dust, as if cleaning the sidewalk, I was facinated, knowing that it would all disapear with the rain, the people walking on it, the wind... it was all so... temporary, like our lives on this earth.

I am happy Kwan to see this shop.I remember last year when in Xian in the Arabian market I bought for my wife a delightful painting of little bird,done by young students of a famous professor.All day I can see it in my sleeping room.
I agree Chinese shop or painting gets a great perfume of Orient,we feel immediately the Transportation to the Dream Land.
