Manila. A city of contrasts. An incredible place where you can still buy a cold beer for around 50 American cents. It is the heart of the Philippines, but definitely not the soul - you need to hop around our 7,107 island for a taste of that. But Manila has something to offer everyone. From upscale shopping to a tireless nightlife to pampering yourself with a 2 hour, ten dollar massage that can knead out a whole year's worth of tension. And we're not talking about the kind with a happy ending. There are far too many other sleazy sites that are peddling those.

Getting around Manila can be as easy or difficult as you can afford - just as it is with anything in this city. If you can afford it, you can rent a car and driver for around 80 dollars a day. This is the ideal way to get around because taxis can be choosier than Simon Cowell on a bad day.

Manila Accommodation also varies from the extravagant to the humble, but if you stick with the reputable ones, you're as safe as anywhere in the world. My only advice is to pick a hotel that is as central as possible. If you are staying in Manila on business, most of the activity will be in Makati. For toursit stuff, it is generally in the Manila area. What I'm getting at here is that its not that easy to move around in Manila, unlike most developed countries, so there's no point saving a few bucks a night but spending most of your holiday by the side of the road haggling with cab drivers.
