The Jeepney

Cute, fun and colorful. If you don't live here, that is. For locals, it's sort of like how the Australians feel about kangaroos - tourists see it as a national symbol, we see it as a giant pain in the... Some of us even support the legalized hunting and shooting of them.

I like your commentary here. While the jeepney may be a pain in the a. . .s, we grew up with this thing. A Japanese friend of mine bought and brought home a very colorful jeepney model. Keeps boosting to his friends that riding in a jeepney was his most imporant and memorable ride while on vacation in the Philippines. In fact, the jeepney is synonymous to the Philippines as kangaroos are to Australia.
