Lovely shot - that amber colour doesn't half stand out. What's the record?
Jen Bixler23-Aug-2006 14:19
Wow! Way to capture the feeling...I do remember, but my daughter has not a clue!
rick bolt01-Apr-2006 13:37
Oh, my goodness. I remember! But my stylus was never that clean! Voted! John Matt
CJ Burianek27-Mar-2006 23:54

Great to see someone else with a turntable!
Guest 17-Mar-2006 18:12
That sliver of amber draws you in, and it adds to the nostalgia :) ~V~

Boy! Do I!! And the song is stuck in my head too!

"Groovin' . . . on a Sunday afternoon
Really couldn't get away too soon
I can't imagine anything that's better
The world is ours whenever we're together
There ain't a place I'd like to be instead of . . .
Groovin' . . . down a crowded avenue
Doin' anything we like to do
There's always lots of things that we can see
We can be anyone we want to be
And all those happy people we could meet just . . .
Groovin' . . . on a Sunday afternoon
Really couldn't get away too soon
Ah-ha-ha [3 times]
We'll keep on spending sunny days this way
We're gonna talk and laugh our time away
I feel it comin' closer day by day
Life would be ecstasy, you and me endlessly . . .
Groovin' . . . on a Sunday afternoon
Really couldn't get away too soon"

great stuff....I still have one of these myself.
...duncan12-Mar-2006 02:17
I recall those days. I can still remember trying to here the Kinks Superman over and over again by picking up the needle and bringing it back to the start of the song and trying to find the right grooves. Course' I do recall the eventual skip as well after a 1000 plays.

BTW: Well done image, The movement in the image is excellent and the comp is great. V

Apart from old gramophone in Spain which had the most painful sound,
it's been a while I haven't listen to those nice scratchy songs...
What a clear and sharp image! Great light!
Guest 11-Mar-2006 15:35
Great shot (even if I am of the generation who was always breaking the needle on Mom's record player!)
Jim Ross11-Mar-2006 15:18
Fantastic shot.. The lighting, the reflection... Perfect...GMV..
Karen Stuebing11-Mar-2006 12:18
I still have a turntable and records. :) This is fanstatic and GMV.
Gail Davison11-Mar-2006 08:04
I wish I could say I don't remember.... but I do. In fact I still have a large stack vinyl which I never play though I do still have a player. Very, nice shot - it would look great blown up on a canvas.
Guest 11-Mar-2006 08:03
that's a great one !
Karen Leaf11-Mar-2006 05:48
'On a Saturday afternoon' just doesn't have the same beat.
This is such a cool, retro shot Ray. Gotta vote.
Carol E Sandgren11-Mar-2006 05:40
Wow! Beautifully shot, Ray! I can only imagine what music is about to play.

Classy shot, Ray. You're preaching to the converted, here. :)

Of course, I remember! Wonderful image Ray, great quality, great composition, beautiful light, textures, and colour (love the partial desat... usually I'm not a fan!) v

Of course I remember those days, or rather for me these days are not long gone. I still use my turntable every now and then. Great shot indeed!
arminb10-Mar-2006 22:53
Perfect!
Guest 10-Mar-2006 22:36
And not one piece of fluff on that needle..
Guest 10-Mar-2006 22:10
It makes me want to take out my turntable this weekend but I just know the kids would destroy it in five minutes. Great shot.
Adalberto Tiburzi10-Mar-2006 21:58
Yes! I remember the hi-fi 33 rpm LP revolution!
(I should explain that I come from the 78 rpm non-hifi era, perhaps... ;-)
Amazing technique, in this shot.
wernere0110-Mar-2006 21:36
Yes I miss the old vinyl in these days of compact discs and mp3. Fantastic shot. gmv
Guest 10-Mar-2006 21:32
Those days aren't gone yet - I've got a big stack of vinyl right next to me. Great shot Ray, as always.

Wow! Read vinyl with an actually stylus. How cool. I still have mine in my living hooked up and everything but don't use it much.
Great shot, Ray. I love the lighting and splash of color in the middle.
JW10-Mar-2006 19:44
Reminds me of the smell of a warm Dansette playing the latest Beatles single bought for 5/6 !! God I'm old!

Superb definition, Ray - GMV
Guest 10-Mar-2006 19:35
I can hear the smooth jazz now! A great atmospheric shot.
This all looks in such perfect condition, it could be used to advertise the record player. I think I would be tempted to buy one!
laine8210-Mar-2006 19:25
Ah yes I do...still have one..out in the garage. Nice old memory Ray
Marisa Livet10-Mar-2006 19:23
I feel banal, in using always the same adjectives, but it’s what your photography suggests me.
Beautiful, honest, deep, tender, kindly self-ironical, elegantly melancholy.
This is an essential and perfect shot.

Oh yes,I remember it very well! You can not have such a personal relationship to the
flimsy and small cd`s.Great shot that bring back good memories for most of us!Thanks!:-)
Michael Shpuntov10-Mar-2006 19:12
Sure I do. Although I do not have anything from that era left, I still enjoy seeing this. Great shot. V

OMG Ray, this is an amazing shot.
Guest 10-Mar-2006 18:57
Is it a picture from your archives ;-)
Very well done, perfect exposure.
grafix7210-Mar-2006 18:47
That's the strangest looking CD player I've ever seen :)
(for the record I do remember those days)
Guest 10-Mar-2006 18:46

Great lighting (window?) that sets the atmosphere for the picture. I like the touch of color in the otherwise monochrome shot. Good work.
