Went over to Deepcut today. Many in the UK will know of it for the mysterious deaths of four soldiers at the barracks in recent years.
But my family history has revealed that I had a great aunt who lived in the village until her death 1984. I made one or two enquiries today, as she was a local shopkeeper and so am hoping that someone may remember her and also tell me what sort of shop she used to run. I came away with a couple of useful contacts, so will follow them up another day.
It would seem that my mother never knew of this aunt living just a few miles away for so many years – they both moved down from London in the 1950’s.
My photo today was taken at the Army church, which is largely constructed of corrugated metal!
