August 22 2004:
Veteran Campaigner

Speakers Corner, London

I had a very fruitful Sunday afternoon at Speakers’ Corner in London today. Situated in Hyde Park, it has long been a place where people get ‘on their soapbox’ to argue out the issues of the day. As the afternoon progresses, there is more and more intense interaction between the participants. Believe it or not, I last visited there in about 1973 when I took my first ever candid! It seems that the issues then were not too different from those of today – religion and war.

I wonder if this lady was here on my first visit all those years ago?

*** I’ve included a monochrome version of this in my Speakers’ Corner gallery HERE***

It is very beautiful in colour too even if I prefer the b&w!
Guest 02-Aug-2005 14:13
I don't know whether I prefer this in colour - where the yellow is so vibrant and striking, or the black and white where the shadows and texture are so interesting. Either way it's an outstanding image...really, really great.

Of the two, I prefer the mono version but great image anyway!
Cheers

LOVE the colors, here too, I think this is FANTASTIC in color. The colors seem to reflect part of her personality!! It would seem she CHOSE that yellow bandana for a reason!

Beautiful job, Ray. The lighting is terrific. I love the weathered look of her face. I bet this would look good in black and white too.
