Two or three years ago I bought a pile of old aviation magazines from the 1950's. Some were 'Air Pictorial' and some 'RAF Flying Review', the latter being a magazine aimed at servicemen. It is interesting to look back at these old issues to see what was being reported and how. Anyway, I was browsing through them recently and came across this article in the February 1954 issue of Flying Review. It told a story of how someone thought the Royal Air Force might be like today, 11 February 2004. I just had to do a PAD on this even if it probably is copyright material, although the magazine ceased publication about 30 years ago.
The main photo here shows a 'space-bomber' (whatever one of those was going to be!)on its launch pad. I've included two more pictures from this article here in my 'Extras gallery, along with some fascinating advertisments of the time, as well as the magazine's front cover.
Enjoy!
