On Friday night some friends and I got together to show some old aircraft slides and my contribution included this stick of old Kodachrome items, with the odd Ektachrome shot thrown in too.
Back in 1968, there was a huge event held at Abingdon, Oxfordshire celebrating 50 years of the Royal Air Force, and I went along with my Dad to this show. We had a really large air force then, and the scale of the mass flypasts has never repeated since. Armed with a Kodak box camera (where the viewfinder was at the top) I took a few black and white shots of the items displayed on the ground, but they were really awful! However, two years ago, I was able to buy quite a few slides taken on that memorable day 36 years ago. So on Friday my friends could also wallow in this nostalgia.
There is a web site here illustrating this event.
