January 12 2004:
Moi

So here I am, Jeanne. Of course I had several goes and eventually I thought I had cracked it. But I had been under the hot spotlight for so long, I was all getting all sweaty! And you didn't want to see that, did you? Just as well, really, as I then changed my pose and lighting and got this.

Canon EOS 300D Digital Rebel
1/200s f/4.5 at 47.0mm iso400 full exif

What a wonderful shot; and such a friendly gaze.... (It's funny how familiar this face must have become to everyone over the last two years... -- and yet this is still very fresh and vibrant!) So... have a very tardy vote from me!

ditto what I said a year ago =]

Ya know, Ray . .you look spectacular for fifty . .think about it. People who were in their fifties (when we were in our twenties) were OLD and LOOKED it. No way could someone look at you & say that, eh
Lara S03-Feb-2004 16:00
Hey. Something just hit me about this photo. You look like Kenneth Branagh. Coooooool.
Guest 19-Jan-2004 02:43
Nice to meet you, Ray! I really like the angle you chose...great lighting! Top notch!
Guest 17-Jan-2004 04:10
Stopped by again to see the comments! Ray, isn't it crazy how a portrait can get such a reaction! You really should be proud of this one!!
virginiacoastline17-Jan-2004 02:53
Lighting like this for anyone else would be unflattering . . .you done good.
Ron Lutz II16-Jan-2004 18:54
LOL….you should title this one, “Bwa-ha-hah-ha-haaaaa!” ;-) Just kidding, it’s very well done.
Guest 16-Jan-2004 02:23
Great self portrait. Makes you want to look longer... something about the eyes!

Hi everyone! I've really been bowled over your reaction to this - thank you! I don't think I've ever had so many comments on one pic, and you have really given me a lift.
I really used the light in this way to hide my ugliness :-)

This is the best self-portrait of the PAD people. Great shot Ray

...and let me add a comment as well...nice to see the face behind the camera! Thank you for revealing yourself, Ray!
Guest 14-Jan-2004 06:40
Would you LOOK at the comments on this?! See, I'm not the only one who wanted you to step out from behind the camera!!

Yeah, I did enjoy it, but I didn't think to put the lamp below me at first. The alien thing: perhaps I should have colourised (or even colorized) it with a green cast :-)
Guest 13-Jan-2004 04:19
Hey what's your number!!! LOL.

No, seriously, Ray, this is GORGEOUS! You have done such a great job with this and kept a wonderful expression. (without busting up laughing!) I am so happy to see this, did you have fun taking it?? Great result...No one would know about the alien thing from this picture....That's our secret!
John Buffin13-Jan-2004 04:16
Awesome, and spooky at the same time.
It has a very Vincent Price feel about it.
Guest 13-Jan-2004 03:45
