The Lady and The Fritillary

Texas Canyon, Dragoon, Arizona

Painted Lady and Variegated Fritillary seen on the wonderful flowers at the pond in the desert
on the grounds where I work.
According to azttttommy these are American Lady and Mexican Fritillary. Thanks Tom!!

And as I look closer, that is not a Variegated Fritillary - Euptoieta claudia. That is a Mexican Fritillary - Euptoieta hegesia.

Carol...That is not a Painted Lady - Vanessa cardui. That is an American Lady - Vanessa viginienes. The white spot in the middle of the orange cell is the key field mark.
