I have a special history with this Butterfly. When it was still called the California Sister I
had captured one thinking how beautiful it was. My sister, Kathleen, had been living in Southern
California for years and she was the family Butterfly Lady. She loved everything Butterfly!
At the time I caught one and found out it was (then) called California Sister, my beautiful sister
was fighting for her life against Breast Cancer. I gifted her a large framed print of this beauty
and she was thrilled. Five years ago my beautiful sister lost the battle against Bone Cancer, after
having survived the initial Breast Cancer.
I hate that they changed the name of the species found in Arizona to Arizona Sister. It will always be a California Sister in my heart.
