John Johnston of Mylnefield died on his farm here ca. 1611. John was of the Johnston of Newbie family, and, as such, one of ours.
Note the modernization in the spelling of Mylnefield to Milnfield, or is this the influence of the English in changing the "y" to an "i"? In my research I have noticed subtle differences between the Scots and English spellings of some names, i.e.: Archie vs. Archy, etc..
I have now found 3 different spellings for this farm: Mylnefield, Milnfield and Millfield.
