Photo a Day, Day 88...Loved the color and texture of the water in this one. It is from Kanakapi'ai Beach... This beach is accessable via boat or hiking only... We hiked. The beach is 2 miles in on the Kalalau Trail and is the furthest you can go on the 11mile trail without a permit. Quote from the tour book: "The first 2 miles of the trail leads to Hanakapi'ai Beach. The second mile is steep downhill and tricky in spots if you're a beginner hiker, but it's worth it.... Hanakapi'ai is a beautiful but treacherous beach to swim."
There are signs posted everywhere about the deadly current including one noting that 92 visitors have been killed by the waves here. We also saw a couple of surfers coming back up from the beach. One had a broken board and no shoes.. was probably a painful 2 miles out as the trail was very steep and extremely rocky!
This is the first day I took everything in just RAW. Slowly learning Camera Raw on PSCS2. I have again posted a batch of other shots taken today in the "Kauai" Gallery including a shot of the Hanakapi'ai Beach itself, several of the Mountains; and a 30sec exposure of the lighthouse we can see from the condo at night....
