I had a friend in LA that was a retired Fire Chief, that had a similar box. Great find. (He also had all kinds of fire antiques in his den!)

But what if some poor sod is running down the street in a panic looking to alert the fire department? Cool looking mailbox. Have you ever seen any of those quiet suburbia brick mailboxes all smashed to bits? I know cars have accidents anywhere, but those neighborhoods all seem to move in slow motion for something like that to happen.
