These flowers grew everywhere in São Miguel, , they stood quite tall...beautifully showing themselves no matter
where they were. A special lady I made friends with used to have them on her dining room table.
As the days would pass...the same flowers were still as beautiful as the day she placed them there.
Fragrance would fill the air...finally I asked what they were, but she couldn't tell me exactly.
She said she called them, "Sugar Flowers". I liked that....
One day before I left the island, she gave me a couple of them to remember her by. About a week after I arrived home,
I decided to take a chance and plant them, hoping beyond hope that they would survive a while longer. To my surprise,
a short while ago I saw (where they had died back), 3 new sprouts were popping out of the ground.
