What was so newsworthy?

• Clipped the tip of the tail.
• Chopper not showing its best side.
• Strong reflection amidships.

The view accurately shows the direction the helicopter
was traveling (quite quickly, after hovering for some time).

I thought about rotating it ~33 degrees,
but then it wouldn't have cropped cleanly.
Maybe fill back in some of the fuzzy blue sky?

I did learn three of our local network affiliates share a chopper.

I saw the 3 different network logos on the bird and was wondering how that cooperative works. I'm also wondering about that antenna that extends below the skids, it must auto retract since it would be destroyed the first time they forgot and set it down without retracting it. Paul

Sterling Heights is closer to Canada than where I live. I worked there for a few months. What brought you to that fair city?

CBP's jurisdiction extends 100 miles from borders, which means all of Michigan is included. https://www.citylab.com/equity/2018/05/who-lives-in-border-patrols-100-mile-zone-probably-you-mapped/558275/

Dave - I know that is true, as we lived in the Detroit area for 10 years (Sterling Heights). Windsor was only 20 miles away.

We are living in Green Valley, AZ - about 45 miles north of the border with Mexico. We live about 20 miles south of Tucson.
We see the Border Patrol almost every day; generally in their cars & trucks. We probably see one of their helicopters once every two weeks flying over the nearby desert. I hear them more often than that.

Depending where you are in Arizona, Jim, I'm likely close to the Canadian border than you are to the Mexican.

Good capture. Yep, the tail is the big "almost" for me; albeit a small "almost" at that.
If this had happened near us in AZ, I would have said it was the border patrol tracking somebody.
