Tiger Force was the name of a long-range reconnaissance patrol unit[1] of the 1st Battalion (Airborne), 327th Infantry, 1st Brigade (Separate), 101st Airborne Division, which fought in the Vietnam War from May to November 1967, including the killing of hundreds of civilians.[2][3].

The platoon-sized unit, approximately 45 paratroopers, was founded by Colonel David Hackworth in November 1965 to "outguerrilla the guerrillas".[4] Tiger Force (Recon) 1-327th was a highly decorated small unit in Vietnam, and paid for its reputation with heavy casualties.[5] In October 1968, Tiger Force's parent battalion was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation by President Lyndon B. Johnson, which included a mention of Tiger Force's service at Đắk Tô in June 1966.[6]

Tiger Force got into bad trouble at Dak To, I was a green, green private, sent in to help pull them off, what I call, and wrote, as Tiger Hill....in the dark, in a rainy night on a steep mountain, bodies rolling down in the muck and the mud...(bad but still better than B Battery human wave charges in Kontum)

I post for your fun over under duckbill plate, a current short video of my life...far from the war, but maybe not really...

Tiger hill?? Is that a boots on the ground solders nickname for the hill since top military brass usually called them something like “hill 750” or similar. Really curious! Paul

The war was different for me since it was so early...started off with the heavy M-14 of all things, then the Colt M-15...such a terrible weapon, I went through three of them at Tiger Hill in the Central Highlands (I swore I was going back to the Pentagon and kill some people in weapon procurement) ...I still have jungle rot scars on my arms and legs...

But what the hell, I am here and alive....lol...no big.

Being a non combat vet I always wondered how soliders in the field dealt with personal hygiene since I was base security in Europe and never really spent time in the field. Paul

Good luck. I hope it provides the desired relief. And thanks for your service.

Oh, not concerned at all...I'll shoot anything...however, this was bone grafting surgery in my jaw....so maybe of some concern.

I must go back to work, but this has been an ongoing problem from Vietnam, 1966, a year living in the jungle...no brushing teeth...you leave a trail of spit that can be followed for a leap-frogged ambush, and dying...well, so we are fixing a large problem finally.

Oh, my! How concerned should we be?
