Looking West

Green Valley

The desert in the foreground, with the City of Green Valley, then the copper mines, then the Quinlan Mountains in the distance - home to Kitt Peak.

Paul - I think you are right on the ranges. The one right behind the copper mines are the Sierrita mountains. They generally are not labeled on the maps I have. Kitt Peak may be hidden by these mountains straight across.

Paul,
The range, which has quite a bit of depth, sort of curls more to the northwest at the right of my photo. Kitt peak is on the far end of the range, more north than I am looking here. See https://www.google.com/maps/place/Kitt+Peak+National+Observatory/@31.8102919,-111.6299958,10.5z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0xa92aad5221dcf9de!8m2!3d31.9598899!4d-111.5997477

That said, you can see it from Madera Canyon, Proctor Trail, at about 4500 ft up. I am at 3000 ft and have not tried to look. I'll try that tomorrow.

Jim I don’t remember, can you see Kitt Peak from your place? I was thinking (dangerous thing there) it was the next range over. Paul

Very layered. Another shot that would make a great print. The sky is particularly nice. Regards, MIchael
