It is a house finch. I had a neighborhood bird "expert" tell me that it was a tanager. Then I went out the other day on a photo bird walk with a real expert who told me that it was a house finch.

When I first saw these birds, I was sure they were a purple finch or a house finch. But neither of these come this far west and south to AZ.

I remember seeing a red looking sparrow bird here once and photographing it. I couldn't ID the bird so I posted it online and another person told me it was a tanger. Never seen anorher one since. I'd keep this title simple and call it Tangers. Paul
